IIT Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India

DbHMS is working on three buildings in an upcoming campus in IIT Gandhinagar. DbHMS scope involves designing Passive Down draft Evaporative Cooling and Night Purge ventilation system for the blocks. All blocks will be simulated in the simulation software and CFD studies too precisely and accurately size and design the passive cooling system.

PDEC (Passive Downdraft Evaporative Cooling): This technique works by adding humidity in air and thus reducing temperature of air. This happens by doing misting on top of tower. Heavy air drops down pushing hot air out from an exhaust shaft. All of this works passively.

Night Purge: This technique utilizes temperature difference between day and night time. Locations where there is substantial diurnal temperature variation this system is very effective. Building can have a high thermal mass which can absorb heat throughout the day. This mass can be exposed to lower temperatures at night time to achieve free cooling. Same technique was widely used in old Indian buildings.,/p>

dbHMS is also designing a BMS System for the project. BMS will help control and monitor performance of the system.
